The Centre for Immunology & Infection (C2i) is a premier research institute focused on advancing biomarker discovery and the development of next-generation vaccines and therapeutic strategies. C2i is dedicated to addressing critical global and local health challenges through cutting-edge technology platforms, with a strong emphasis on translational research and commercial impact. A key initiative includes the establishment of a foundational model of the immune system to enable AI-driven biomarker discovery and drug development.

 

 

Research Assistant I (C2i132-RP1)

Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I in the Program 1 of Centre of Immunology & Infection to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge projects involving multi-omics big data analysis, with a focus on immunology, genomics, and translational biomedical research.

 

Job Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Sciences, Computational Biology, or a related discipline

  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or similar tools for data analysis

  • Experience with biological data analysis, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, or clinical datasets

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and data visualization techniques

  • Experience with relevant bioinformatics tools, databases, and pipelines

Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong understanding of biological systems and experimental design

  • Experience in handling large-scale datasets (e.g., sequencing or cohort data)

  • Knowledge of data cleaning, quality control, and interpretation of results

  • Prior experience in research, clinical studies, or translational research projects is an advantage

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Good communication skills to present complex findings to non-technical audiences

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills


Job Responsibilities

 

Data Analysis & Interpretation

  • Analyze and interpret biological and clinical datasets using appropriate statistical and computational methods

  • Perform data preprocessing, quality control, and validation of datasets

  • Identify patterns, trends, and insights to support research objectives

Bioinformatics & Computational Work

  • Develop, implement, and maintain analysis pipelines for high-throughput biological data

  • Utilize bioinformatics tools to analyze genomic, transcriptomic, Immunophenotype or other omics data

  • Ensure reproducibility and documentation of analysis workflows

Research Support

  • Collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and project teams to support experimental design and data interpretation

  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations

  • Assist in integrating multi-omics or longitudinal datasets where applicable
